SYSTEM DESCRIPTION - V2023.0

SCOPE

EPLANT-STH is a computer aided design system for the generation of tridimensional Models of Structures, Cables Trays, HVAC and automatic Material Take Off.
The system is built as a graphic application running on AutoCAD 2004 up to 2024 and ZWCAD 2020 up to 2024 integrated with a data base module.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

EPLANT-STH has been designed to generate structural, trays and ducts found in Industrial Plant 3D Models. It uses a section and component library. Components automatically connect themselves during insertion. It can be used on its own or to complete Piping and Equipment Models generated with EPLANT-Piping, being totally compatible with EPLANT-Piping.

The Data Base module allows to access Dimensional Tables of the existing components and to generate Requisitions of computed Materials.

Graphic Files generated with EPLANT-STH have a compressed structure resulting in very small sizes even for big models. For example, 1000 components can be contained in no more than 700 Kbytes.

All graphic files generated by EPLANT-STH are 100% compatible with AutoCAD native format, and can be opened and plotted with AutoCAD alone.

The system is easy to install both for single and multiuser environments, easy to learn and easy to use.

THREE APPLICATIONS

Three applications: Structures, Cable Trays and HVAC are united in a single module. Each one has a different component catalog and can be set to work with different dimensional standards. The application to be used is set Active with the command:

COMPONENTS

The system uses a library of tridimensional components defined parametrically and dimensional tables. Shapes and dimensions of each component can be changed by the user at will, that can also add new ones. Dimensions can also be introduced manually during component generation.
Components are selected for their insertion with a first selection based on basic categories: Rectilinear Elements, Elbows, Tees, Fittings, Volumetric Elements, etc. as shown below:

Afterwards, the specific component is picked from dialog boxes like the following one, that depicts Cable Tray Elbows options for the Open Rectangular Section that is the current Active Section in this case:

Components can be placed in the models in several ways: by exact coordinates, snapping to a LINE element or to an existing component. In the last two cases, its orientation is automatic, assuring in this way its correct position and drawing speed.

AXIS AND SECTION GENERATION

In the Structure Application, Axis Patterns can be automatically generated using a parametric library that can be modified and enhanced by the user.
A section can be asigned to these axis lines and the corresponding 3D section is automatically generated.
Axis lines can also be drawn using the AutoCAD LINE command. It is the fastest way to generate 3D sections.

AUTOCAD 100% COMPATIBLE

The generated components can be moved, rotated, shortened or enlarged to the ends. AutoCAD commands COPY, MOVE, MIRROR can be used without any restriction. Graphic elements generated with the AutoCAD COPY command retain all their proprieties.

All EPLANT-STH generated graphic files are 100% compatible with AutoCAD native format, by which they can be opened, modified and plotted with AutoCAD alone.

INTERFERENCE CHECKING

A command allows to automatically detecting interference among components. The command is very fast and checks very big models in few seconds.

2D PLANS

Plan views are automatically generated on any spatial orientation to prepare Plan Drawings of the 3D Models, using the command:

DATA BASE

The Data Base module is used to automatically integrate Material Take Off of each 3D Model, as well as to compute component weight and area. It allows to automatically generate Material Requisitions in a way similar to EPLANT-Piping.
It allows accessing to Dimensional Tables corresponding to defined components also.

EPLANT-Piping COMPATIBLE

3D Models generated with EPLANT-STH can be used with the EPLANT-Piping module attaching them as external references.

The EPLANT-Piping 2D Plan Generator can process EPLANT-STH models, but requires EPLANT-STH V2008 or up installed. EPLANT-STH models could have been generated with older versions.

WE LICENSE

A Web License is also available with a duration of one year. To be able to use this type of license, an internet connection is required and the license itself is activated in a given machine, although it can be moved to another machine afterward.
